In the 45th minute, Spain's Xove Herrera ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Manu Neuer. Manu Neuer yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Xove Herrera made a kick off. In the 52nd minute Angelo Small shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Antolin Saboya saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 54 minutes into the match, Spain's goalkeeper Antolin Saboya had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Angelo Small. Manu Neuer dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. Canada's Terence Butcher got a good chance for a goal in the 78th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 81stth minute of the game Xove Herrera who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Canada's Manu Neuer was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 84 minutes into the match, Canada's goal looked a bit too open when Xove Herrera came free, but Manu Neuer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Xove Herrera recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 89th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Xove Herrera in the 95th minute of play forced Canada's goalkeeper Manu Neuer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
