After 6 played minutes Paraguay got a freekick which was hit by Virgilio Carbajal. In the 8th minute, Agustin Nunes left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The El Salvador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. In the 12th minute of the match, Shawn Hurtado got a very nice opportunity to score, but Leo Gopegui was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. After 12 played minutes Paraguay got a freekick which was hit by Lalla Pujals. El Salvador's Diego Barraza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Efraim Larrauri in the 15th minute of play. El Salvador's Mauro Medina quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Lalla Pujals, made in the 18th minute of the game. Leo Gopegui showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Agustin Nunes in the 19th minute of the match. Diego Barraza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Che Escobedo, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. El Salvador's Diego Barraza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Che Escobedo in the 26th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ceferino Butron in the 27th minute of play forced El Salvador's goalkeeper Diego Barraza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Che Escobedo took the ball and in the 29 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Diego Barraza. Diego Barraza dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Agustin Nunes in the 37th minute of play forced Paraguay's goalkeeper Leo Gopegui to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Leo Gopegui made a fantastic save in the 42nd minute, when Agustin Nunes sent off a good shot on target. Diego Barraza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Efraim Larrauri in the 46th minute of the match. The first half was very even, with the score at 2-2 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when Agustin Nunes made the kick off in the second half. Leo Gopegui showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Agustin Nunes, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Paraguay's Efraim Larrauri slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Diego Barraza. That made the score 2-3 after 57 minutes of play. Paraguay made a substitution. Tobias Monteiro replaced Maura Casanueva. When Agustin Nunes came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the El Salvador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Agustin Nunes couldn't finish the play. El Salvador made a substitution. In the 82nd minute, Tobias Monteiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 85th minute Fabio Costas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leo Gopegui saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ceferino Butron's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Diego Barraza read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 87th minute of play. Paraguay's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Virgilio Carbajal in the 93rd minute. Virgilio Carbajal made a great header on Paraguay's corner, it was just that El Salvador's Diego Barraza managed to reach the ball for a save. The El Salvador fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Paraguay were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
