In the 16th minute the ball was on its way in behind Croatia's goalkeeper Izidor Radmanović, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 22nd match minute, Lithuania was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Adas Šimaitis to maneuver through the defense. Aldas Kiškunas came out of the goal in the 23rd minute to try and stop a shot by Croatia's Hrvoje Matoš. Through an outstanding action, after 26 minutes, Izidor Radmanović successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Croatia's Izidor Radmanović proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 30th minute of the match, managed to save Croatia from getting a goal against them. In the 34th minute the ball was on its way in behind Lithuania's goalkeeper Aldas Kiškunas, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 35th minute of the match Croatia got a corner. Lithuania's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Jure Salzer ran over to the corner to take the kick. The goalkeeper smacked the ball away after a great corner, but Belimir Gradišar advanced and headed the ball into goal, 0-3 in the 35th minute. Croatia's Izidor Radmanović proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 40th minute of the match, managed to save Croatia from getting a goal against them. Blaž Starčević hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. Izidor Radmanović showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gvidas Domeika in the 44th minute of the match.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jure Salzer to make the kick off. The supporters of Lithuania booed when Croatia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jure Salzer didn't get a good kick on the ball. Croatia's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Jure Salzer in the 55th minute. Jure Salzer made a great header on Croatia's corner, it was just that Lithuania's Aldas Kiškunas managed to reach the ball for a save. 56 minutes into the match, Croatia's goal looked a bit too open when Gvidas Domeika came free, but Izidor Radmanović reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 58 minutes into the game, Gvidas Domeika cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-3. Izidor Radmanović was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Croatia made a substitution. Rafael Vida replaced Jure Salzer. After 95 minutes Croatia's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Liudvikas Bajoriūnas who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Saulius Voveris almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Croatia's Izidor Radmanović did a great save. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Croatia eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
