In the 18th minute Tejs Smelnicke shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Augusto Gaig saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 22 minutes into the match, U21 Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Tejs Smelnicke came free, but Augusto Gaig reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 24 minutes into the match, U21 Denmark's goal looked a bit too open when Clemente Velicia came free, but Oberst-Wilhelm von Gyldenfeldt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. U21 Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 25th minute after U21 Denmark's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. John Narváez took the corner. John Narváez made a great header on U21 Ecuador's corner, it was just that U21 Denmark's Oberst-Wilhelm von Gyldenfeldt managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 27thth minute of the game Cruz Basabe who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but U21 Denmark's Oberst-Wilhelm von Gyldenfeldt was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Clemente Velicia's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Oberst-Wilhelm von Gyldenfeldt read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. Kurd Herrig recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Augusto Gaig took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Karljohan Garrn, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 34 minutes into the match, U21 Denmark's goal looked a bit too open when Clemente Velicia came free, but Oberst-Wilhelm von Gyldenfeldt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 42nd minute, Cruz Basabe ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Oberst-Wilhelm von Gyldenfeldt was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. After 46 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for U21 Denmark! Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

In the 53rd minute, Franco Fernandes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 54th minute the ball was on its way in behind U21 Ecuador's goalkeeper Augusto Gaig, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 55 minutes had been played when some careless play by U21 Ecuador's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Ambrosius Tokking was slow to take the kick. During this time U21 Denmark's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Ambrosius Tokking almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but U21 Ecuador's Augusto Gaig did a great save. After a defensive mix-up in U21 Denmark's zone, Cruz Basabe stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Oberst-Wilhelm von Gyldenfeldt came out of the goal and Cruz Basabe tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Augusto Gaig made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kurd Herrig in the 64th minute of play. Augusto Gaig made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tejs Smelnicke in the 66th minute. The supporters of U21 Ecuador booed when U21 Denmark was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kristof Næslev didn't get a good kick on the ball. U21 Ecuador made a substitution. Unax Sobrefuentes replaced John Narváez. U21 Denmark's Travis O'Connell was substituted for Karljohan Garrn. A collision led to U21 Denmark getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Kristof Næslev hit a great ball. 77 minutes into the game, Marcel Schmelzer was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. U21 Denmark's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave U21 Ecuador the free kick. In the 77th minute, Marcel Schmelzer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, U21 Denmark's Marcel Schmelzer got a free kick in the 79th minute. Cruz Basabe's late challenge caught a U21 Denmark's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The U21 Ecuador fans cheered their team off the field, for while U21 Denmark had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
