In the 15th minute of the match Paraguay got a corner. Dominican Republic's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Saúl Salcedo ran over to the corner to take the kick. Dominican Republic's Jesús Caminero proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 16th minute of the match, managed to save Dominican Republic from getting a goal against them. Ariel Balboa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alvar Ponce, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jeremias Stewarts in the 19th minute of play forced Paraguay's goalkeeper Ariel Balboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Dominican Republic's Jesús Caminero got control of the ball when Valentine Hernandez tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some careless play in the Dominican Republic defense, Caitano Fuentes kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jesús Caminero. The Dominican Republic fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jesús Caminero should have stopped the shot. Dominican Republic's Jesús Caminero played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Caitano Fuentes in the 31st minute of play. Jesús Caminero didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Cristian Alvarenga went, in the 32nd minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. After some careless play in the Dominican Republic defense, Valentine Hernandez kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jesús Caminero. The Dominican Republic fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jesús Caminero should have stopped the shot. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Valentine Hernandez in the 43rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jesús Caminero saved Dominican Republic from getting behind. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Dominican Republic made a substitution. Clemente Cisneros replaced Alvar Ponce. Dominican Republic's José Antonio Chamot was substituted for Sebastián Prado. With a little luck, Paraguay's Ariel Balboa got control of the ball when Henry Costa tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 55th minute the ball was on its way in behind Dominican Republic's goalkeeper Jesús Caminero, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Jesús Caminero came out of the goal in the 57th minute to try and stop a shot by Paraguay's Matteo Mata. But to his dismay, Matteo Mata quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-0. Ariel Balboa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jeremias Stewarts in the 60th minute of play. 67 minutes into the match, Paraguay's goalkeeper Ariel Balboa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jeremias Stewarts. Henry Costa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ariel Balboa having to interfere. 71 minutes into the game, Hugo Quintana was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Paraguay's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Dominican Republic the free kick. A collision led to Paraguay getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Hugo Quintana hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Matteo Mata in the 75th minute of play forced Dominican Republic's goalkeeper Jesús Caminero to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 78 minutes into the match, Paraguay's goal looked a bit too open when Jeremias Stewarts came free, but Ariel Balboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jeremias Stewarts in the 78th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ariel Balboa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ariel Balboa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jeremias Stewarts, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dominican Republic were awarded a corner in the 82th minute after Paraguay's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Bruno Melillo took the corner. A well done corner resulted in Emilio Rael drilling the ball in to score 4-1 behind Paraguay's goalkeeper. 85 minutes into the match, Paraguay's goalkeeper Ariel Balboa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Henry Costa. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Alvarenga in the 88th minute of play forced Dominican Republic's goalkeeper Jesús Caminero to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Clemente Cisneros could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 90th minute of the match, but Ariel Balboa made a huge save. Jesús Caminero took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Matteo Mata, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jesús Caminero showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Matteo Mata in the 91st minute of the match. 93 minutes into the match, Dominican Republic's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Alvarenga came free, but Jesús Caminero reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cristian Alvarenga took the ball and in the 97 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jesús Caminero. Jesús Caminero dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-1. When the referee ended the match the Paraguay players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
