Seating: 2369, VIP seats: 206) Robert Collen made the kick off and thus started the match. 2 minutes into the game, U21 Netherlands's Ferry Hebels nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Guido Valkeneers made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jerry Dejonckheere in the 10th minute of play forced U21 Netherlands's goalkeeper Dennis Beerthuis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 12 minutes had been played when some careless play by U21 Belgium's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Marnix Mastebroek was slow to take the kick. During this time U21 Netherlands's players had a chance to rest. In the 17th match minute, U21 Netherlands was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ferry Hebels to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, U21 Belgium's Gert Sterckx got a free kick in the 21st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Robert Collen in the 24th minute of play forced U21 Belgium's goalkeeper Guido Valkeneers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 28th minute, Klaas Jan Mol ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Guido Valkeneers was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. 32 minutes into the match, U21 Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Gert Sterckx came free, but Dennis Beerthuis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ferry Hebels in the 33rd minute of play forced U21 Belgium's goalkeeper Guido Valkeneers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Guido Valkeneers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Klaas Jan Mol, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. Klaas Jan Mol took the ball and in the 43 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Guido Valkeneers. Guido Valkeneers dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-5. After 47 minutes of play, U21 Netherlands's Klaas Jan Mol made it 0-6 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Guido Valkeneers was left in no man's land by his defense there! The U21 Belgium players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. U21 Netherlands were winning 0-6.
A collision led to U21 Belgium getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Ferdinand Van den Inde hit a great ball. Guido Valkeneers acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 54th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Ted Fokkelman. Guido Valkeneers made a fantastic save in the 61st minute, when Dave Bense sent off a good shot on target. 62 minutes into the game, Klaas Jan Mol recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Guido Valkeneers. Klaas Jan Mol showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-8. Ferry Hebels hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. When George Van Impe came up free with the goalie in the 65th minute, the U21 Belgium fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that George Van Impe couldn't finish the play. After 68 minutes of play, U21 Netherlands's Roelof Molenaar made it 0-9 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Guido Valkeneers was left in no man's land by his defense there! With a little luck, U21 Belgium's Guido Valkeneers got control of the ball when Dave Bense tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 72nd minute Harmen Hilkes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Guido Valkeneers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, U21 Belgium's George Van Impe got a free kick in the 75th minute. A collision led to U21 Belgium getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Dean De Koq hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Marnix Mastebroek got free with Guido Valkeneers in the 77th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Guido Valkeneers was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Klaas Jan Mol showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-10 in the 79 minute of play. In the 86th minute Klaas Jan Mol shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Guido Valkeneers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 87 minutes into the match, U21 Belgium's goalkeeper Guido Valkeneers had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ferry Hebels. In the 89th minute Ferry Hebels shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Guido Valkeneers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Guido Valkeneers didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ferry Hebels went, in the 91st minute, to the upper right corner, 0-11 was the resulting score. When the match had gone on for 95 minutes, Klaas Jan Mol took a quick shot and it went in 0-12 without a chance for Guido Valkeneers to make any attempt to save it.
