The VM HOPVELDEN fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Bruno Bouman should have stopped the shot. After 9 played minutes Ritchie Van Craen rounded U 1974's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-1. Robert Pivniceru fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dumitru Oardă having to interfere. The U 1974 fans' excitement grew in the 25th match minute when U 1974's Robert Andriescu looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Georges Schaerlaekens lost his temper 42 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. After the first half U 1974 were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Mattheo Verhasselt charged in rather forcefully in the 53rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. In the 95th minute, U 1974's Octavian Hârtopanu ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Bruno Bouman. Bruno Bouman yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-7. U 1974 played a much better game than VM HOPVELDEN and deserved their victory. The VM HOPVELDEN players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
