After having played for 10 minutes, Oscar Boyle managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tahata FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Oscar Boyle was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ray Dennis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Van Stern in the 16th minute of play. If Kirby Wyatt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kirby Wyatt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ray Dennis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Van Stern in the 29th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Tahata FC's zone, Kirby Wyatt stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ray Dennis came out of the goal and Kirby Wyatt tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Bo Healy kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. After 37 minutes of play, Tahata FC's Alexis Farrell made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Reinaldo Herndon was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a defensive mix-up in DC United's zone, Stefan Rankin stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Reinaldo Herndon came out of the goal and Stefan Rankin tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. DC United's Reinaldo Herndon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anthony Watson in the 46th minute of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Alexis Farrell to make the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 60th minute, Van Stern managed to get in a good position for a shot. DC United's supporters rose to their feet, but Van Stern was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ray Dennis breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. DC United's Reinaldo Herndon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alexis Farrell in the 67th minute of play. Tahata FC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 69th minute, when Van Stern scored to the left of an out of position Ray Dennis, making the score, 1-1. If Alexis Farrell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 77th minute, Stefan Rankin ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Reinaldo Herndon was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. In the 81st minute of the match Tahata FC got a corner. DC United's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Alexis Farrell ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led to Tahata FC's Francesco Guy getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. The supporters of Tahata FC booed when DC United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wilmer Bartley didn't get a good kick on the ball. Reinaldo Herndon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alexis Farrell in the 85th minute of play. In the 89th minute Anthony Watson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Reinaldo Herndon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. There was no doubt that Tahata FC were the better team. Tahata FC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
