When Ivo Berger came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the Carioca EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ivo Berger couldn't finish the play. After 24 minutes of play Angai's Artur Bueno was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. A collision led to Angai getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Artur Bueno hit a great ball. The audience was convinced that Ivo Berger's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jaime Souza was relentless in the 26th minute of the game. In the 26th match minute, Angai was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rômulo Duarte to maneuver through the defense. 27 minutes into the game, Carioca EC's Sydney Zanette nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jaime Souza made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. When Jonas Ceresso came up free with the goalie in the 46th minute, the Carioca EC fans jumped to their feet. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Edmílson Novaes made a kick off. 51 minutes into the game, Ivo Berger cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-0. Jaime Souza was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Jaime Souza stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sydney Zanette's shot from short distance in the 56th minute. Carioca EC's Iuri Guimarães got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ivo Berger received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Jaime Souza tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 63rd minute Luiz Freitas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jaime Souza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 93rd minute, Rômulo Duarte hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ivo Berger scored 4-0 in the 95th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jaime Souza, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Carioca EC fully deserved thier win.
