The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience thought a goal was coming when Fernando Valente got free with Nemesio Batista in the 7th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some careless play in the La Naranja Mecanica defense, Celestino Grabiel kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nemesio Batista. The La Naranja Mecanica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nemesio Batista should have stopped the shot. In the 11th minute Luis Paskal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Evelio Gorosti saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Celestino Grabiel, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 14 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Nemesio Batista was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. 16 minutes into the game, Celestino Grabiel recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Nemesio Batista. Celestino Grabiel showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. In the 19th match minute, Salto was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Severo Sugar to maneuver through the defense. Silvestre Dalmai kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. If Luis Paskal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luis Paskal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 29th match minute, Salto was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Severo Sugar to maneuver through the defense. Evelio Gorosti took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luis Paskal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 34th minute, Fernando Valente ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Nemesio Batista was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. If Fernando Valente had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. La Naranja Mecanica's defense didn't have a chance, in the 38th minute, when Celestino Grabiel scored to the left of an out of position Nemesio Batista, making the score, 4-0. When Fernando Valente came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the Salto fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fernando Valente couldn't finish the play. La Naranja Mecanica's Nemesio Batista played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Celestino Grabiel in the 48th minute of play.

Evelio Gorosti showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Oscar Gilen in the 54th minute of the match. Oscar Gilen's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Evelio Gorosti read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 70th minute of play. Oscar Gilen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Evelio Gorosti having to interfere. A collision led to Salto getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Diego Dimas hit a great ball. Luis Paskal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Evelio Gorosti tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Oscar Gilen in the 87th minute of play forced Salto's goalkeeper Evelio Gorosti to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 87 minutes into the game, Oscar Gilen cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-1. Evelio Gorosti was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Luis Paskal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Evelio Gorosti tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 95 minutes into the match, Salto's goal looked a bit too open when Oscar Gilen came free, but Evelio Gorosti reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luis Paskal's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 96thth minute, Evelio Gorosti skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Luis Paskal who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 97thth minute tested the skills of Evelio Gorosti when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Salto had won after a very even match.
