The referee ignored Lubenita Godlob's protests and gave Fred Graves a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Lubenita Godlob getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Fred Graves hit a great ball. 9 minutes into the match, Lubenita Godlob's goal looked a bit too open when Len Bradbury came free, but Dom Hayles reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Matlock fans' excitement grew in the 12th match minute when Matlock's Len Bradbury looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Len Bradbury took the ball and in the 15 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dom Hayles. Dom Hayles dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. When Sonny Medlin fell near the penalty area in the 18th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Matlock's protests and gave Sonny Medlin a yellow card for diving instead. Sonny Medlin hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. 20 minutes into the match, Lubenita Godlob's goal looked a bit too open when Harry Stockton came free, but Dom Hayles reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Harry Stockton's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dom Hayles was relentless in the 22nd minute of the game. A collision led to Matlock getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Jamal Hunter hit a great ball. Len Bradbury fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dom Hayles having to interfere. Lubenita Godlob's Dom Hayles played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Harry Stockton in the 34th minute of play. Dom Hayles took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Len Bradbury, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Len Bradbury fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dom Hayles having to interfere. 38 minutes into the game, Leo Wilson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Lubenita Godlob's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Matlock the free kick. After 38 played minutes Lubenita Godlob got a freekick which was hit by Leo Wilson. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Len Bradbury was the one to do the kick off. Harry Stockton made a well adjusted shot against goal in the 51stth minute coming free in front of the goal, but Dom Hayles would not let the ball come through at any expense and made a nice save by the left post. After a defensive mix-up in Lubenita Godlob's zone, Harry Stockton stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dom Hayles came out of the goal and Harry Stockton tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Harry Stockton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Dom Hayles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dom Hayles stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Len Bradbury's shot from short distance in the 57th minute. If Harry Stockton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Len Bradbury sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Len Bradbury fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dom Hayles having to interfere. In the 64th match minute, Lubenita Godlob was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leo Wilson to maneuver through the defense. Harry Stockton recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 66th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Len Bradbury received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Dom Hayles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alistair Notley sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 80 minutes into the match, Lubenita Godlob's goalkeeper Dom Hayles had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Harry Stockton. Matlock's Harry Stockton got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Matlock's Len Bradbury got a good chance for a goal in the 85th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 87th minute Len Bradbury shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dom Hayles saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Harry Stockton got free with Dom Hayles in the 90th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 93rd minute, Fred Graves got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 95 minutes into the match, Lubenita Godlob's goalkeeper Dom Hayles had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Harry Stockton. After 96 minutes of play Lubenita Godlob's Leo Wilson was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Leo Wilson kicked well hit freekick during the 96th minute of the match. Harry Stockton's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 100thth minute, Dom Hayles skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. When the final whistle sounded Matlock left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Lubenita Godlob.
