Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Bruce Foster in the 7th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dom Hayles prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Bruce Foster fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dom Hayles having to interfere. Dale Swift made an important save on a dangerous shot by Fred Graves in the 11th minute. When Dover AFC's Alec Floyd in the 12th minute got a chance for a shot 12th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Lubenita Godlob's goalie prevented a goal. 24 minutes into the match, Lubenita Godlob's goal looked a bit too open when Alec Floyd came free, but Dom Hayles reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bruce Foster received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Dom Hayles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Dover AFC booed when Lubenita Godlob was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leo Wilson didn't get a good kick on the ball. 31 minutes into the game, Benji Warden was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Lubenita Godlob's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Dover AFC the free kick. In the 31st match minute, Lubenita Godlob was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Benji Warden to maneuver through the defense. If Bruce Foster had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dom Hayles took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alec Floyd, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bruce Foster's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dom Hayles read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 47th minute of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

In the 55th minute Alec Floyd shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dom Hayles saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dom Hayles made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alec Floyd in the 57th minute of play. Roy Pinder kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. 66 minutes into the match, Alec Floyd dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Dom Hayles, 0-1. With an all-out effort, Dover AFC's Dom Hayles threw himself towards the right post 77 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Alec Floyd, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Bruce Foster fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dom Hayles having to interfere. When Denzil Meehan came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the Dover AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Denzil Meehan couldn't finish the play. In the 92nd minute, Leon Byrne made a precise shot to the right of Dale Swift. Dover AFC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1.
