After a defensive mix-up in Rottneros's zone, Karl-Johan Öberg stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Patrik Tomasson came out of the goal and Karl-Johan Öberg tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Malcolm Morat sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Karl-Johan Lindgren scored 0-1 in the 16th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Sven-Erik Nyberg, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 21st minute Karl-Johan Lindgren shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sven-Erik Nyberg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Henric Göransson's late challenge caught a VfL Wolfsburg's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Henric Göransson helped the player get up and apologised. In the 25th match minute, Rottneros was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Henric Göransson to maneuver through the defense. Sven-Erik Nyberg showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Karl-Johan Lindgren in the 30th minute of the match. Sven-Erik Nyberg took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Karl-Johan Lindgren, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Henric Göransson in the 32nd minute of play forced VfL Wolfsburg's goalkeeper Sven-Erik Nyberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 37 minutes of play, Rottneros's Henric Göransson made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Sven-Erik Nyberg dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. After some careless play in the VfL Wolfsburg defense, Jack Juhlin kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sven-Erik Nyberg. The VfL Wolfsburg fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sven-Erik Nyberg should have stopped the shot.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Malcolm Morat to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Henric Göransson in the 58th minute of play forced VfL Wolfsburg's goalkeeper Sven-Erik Nyberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Jan Lindqvist fell near the penalty area in the 62nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Rottneros's protests and gave Jan Lindqvist a yellow card for diving instead. In the 63rd match minute, Rottneros was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jan Lindqvist to maneuver through the defense. VfL Wolfsburg's Jens-Åke Karlsson managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Reine Kiempe in the 64 minute of the game. In the 65th minute Jens-Åke Karlsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Patrik Tomasson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The corner led VfL Wolfsburg's Jens-Åke Karlsson to fire away a dangerous shot which Patrik Tomasson despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Kjell Bivall kicked well hit freekick during the 68th minute of the match. With a little luck, VfL Wolfsburg's Sven-Erik Nyberg got control of the ball when Karl-Johan Lindgren tried to sneak it across the goal line. Björn Gunnarsson kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. 75 minutes into the match, Karl-Johan Lindgren had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Sven-Erik Nyberg. VfL Wolfsburg's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Karl-Johan Lindgren was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-5. In the 79th minute of the match, Gustav Norström got a very nice opportunity to score, but Sven-Erik Nyberg was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. The crowd rose to their feet as Rottneros's Karl-Johan Lindgren slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Sven-Erik Nyberg. That made the score 0-6 after 81 minutes of play. 85 minutes into the match, VfL Wolfsburg's goal looked a bit too open when Henric Göransson came free, but Sven-Erik Nyberg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sven-Erik Nyberg made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jack Juhlin in the 86th minute. 87 minutes into the match, VfL Wolfsburg's goalkeeper Sven-Erik Nyberg had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Karl-Johan Lindgren. Karl-Johan Lindgren fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 98th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sven-Erik Nyberg having to interfere.
