Ásgautur Reimarsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Siriboon Phrommakaew in the 7th minute of the match. 11 minutes had been played when some careless play by Thailand's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Þyrnir Árnason was slow to take the kick. During this time Iceland's players had a chance to rest. After taking down the ball on Iceland's corner Þyrnir Árnason fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Wattana Karahkul quite easily take care of the ball. Þyrnir Árnason struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Wattana Karahkul didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Iceland. Siriboon Phrommakaew's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ásgautur Reimarsson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 41st minute of play. Héðinn Erlendsson received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Wattana Karahkul came out and tried to block the shot, but Héðinn Erlendsson slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 47th minute. Iceland's Garibaldi Hlöðversson was substituted for Héðinn Erlendsson. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.
The wind increased when Garibaldi Hlöðversson made the kick off in the second half. 57 minutes into the match, Thailand's goal looked a bit too open when Garibaldi Hlöðversson came free, but Wattana Karahkul reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 67th match minute, Thailand was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pathom Vorratanasupa to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Iceland getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Kópur Guðlaugsson hit a great ball. Thailand made a substitution. Anuchart Klaychim replaced Siriboon Phrommakaew. Ásgautur Reimarsson came out and tried to block the shot, but Natee Boonsong slotted it home off the left post making it 4-1 in the 95th minute. After 99 minutes of play, Iceland's Reifnir Hjörvarsson made it 5-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Wattana Karahkul was left in no man's land by his defense there! It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Iceland had played much better football throughout.
