Spectators: 13604 (Terracing: 10000, Seating: 3316, VIP seats: 288) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Kristinn Ingimundarson kicked off to start the match. 3 minutes into the match, Iceland's Kristinn Ingimundarson sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Paiboon Permpol narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Wonsakon Choonama's late challenge caught a Iceland's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Wonsakon Choonama helped the player get up and apologised. Kristinn Ingimundarson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Paiboon Permpol having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kristinn Ingimundarson in the 14th minute of play forced Thailand's goalkeeper Paiboon Permpol to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 16 minutes had been played when some careless play by Thailand's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Jóhannes Skaptason was slow to take the kick. During this time Iceland's players had a chance to rest. 18 minutes into the match, Iceland's goal looked a bit too open when Thananiti Cheewawipat came free, but Petr Čech reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thananiti Cheewawipat received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Petr Čech came out and tried to block the shot, but Thananiti Cheewawipat slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 25th minute. Thailand's Paiboon Permpol played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Allan Þrándsson in the 30th minute of play. In the 32nd minute Kristinn Ingimundarson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paiboon Permpol saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Paiboon Permpol showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kristinn Ingimundarson in the 34th minute of the match. 35 minutes into the match, Thailand's goal looked a bit too open when Kristinn Ingimundarson came free, but Paiboon Permpol reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Kristinn Ingimundarson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Paiboon Permpol read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 36th minute of play. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Thailand's goalie and right to Allan Þrándsson. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Thailand's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Thailand's Paiboon Permpol played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kristinn Ingimundarson in the 42nd minute of play. 43 minutes into the match, Iceland's goal looked a bit too open when Tawat Chaiprakhon came free, but Petr Čech reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Allan Þrándsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paiboon Permpol having to interfere. With his leg Petr Čech managed to avoid a goal in the 48thth minute, when Thailand's Tawat Chaiprakhon fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side.

Iceland's Austmar Hjaltason was substituted for Allan Þrándsson. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tawat Chaiprakhon was the one to do the kick off. In the 54th minute Kristinn Ingimundarson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paiboon Permpol saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Vélaugur Óskarsson got free with Paiboon Permpol in the 55th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Paiboon Permpol came out of the goal in the 59th minute to try and stop a shot by Iceland's Kristinn Ingimundarson. But to his dismay, Kristinn Ingimundarson quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tawat Chaiprakhon in the 63rd minute of play forced Iceland's goalkeeper Petr Čech to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Paiboon Permpol was a little too slow when Vélaugur Óskarsson got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 64th minute. The score was now 1-2. In the 66th minute, Wonsakon Choonama hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Kristinn Ingimundarson came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the Iceland fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kristinn Ingimundarson couldn't finish the play. With his leg Paiboon Permpol managed to avoid a goal in the 73rdth minute, when Iceland's Vélaugur Óskarsson fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Thananiti Cheewawipat in the 74th minute of play forced Iceland's goalkeeper Petr Čech to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Vélaugur Óskarsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kristinn Ingimundarson struck a weak shot in the 82nd minute. Paiboon Permpol didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Iceland. Paiboon Permpol took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kristinn Ingimundarson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Iceland's Krummi Þengilsson got a free kick in the 92nd minute. 93 minutes into the match, Thailand's goal looked a bit too open when Kristinn Ingimundarson came free, but Paiboon Permpol reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 96th minute of the match Jóhannes Skaptason sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Paiboon Permpol skillfully saved the ball. When Thananiti Cheewawipat fell near the penalty area in the 96th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Thailand's protests and gave Thananiti Cheewawipat a yellow card for diving instead. Krummi Þengilsson took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 98th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Paiboon Permpol. Thailand's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Iceland had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
