With a little luck, Lithuania's Zenonas Kuprevičius got control of the ball when Juan Cristóbal Da Fonseca tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 27th minute Karamoko Printz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Miroslav Seman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Miroslav Seman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Darijus Kibildis in the 30th minute of play. In the 33rd minute, Juan Cristóbal Da Fonseca left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Slovakia fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Zenonas Kuprevičius made an important save on a dangerous shot by Matej Lapaj in the 39th minute. The supporters of Lithuania booed when Slovakia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Erik Jendrišek didn't get a good kick on the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Matej Lapaj made a kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Karamoko Printz got free with Miroslav Seman in the 51st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Miroslav Seman was out of position in the 51 minute of play, and Karamoko Printz capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Karamoko Printz really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. Zenonas Kuprevičius showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Erik Jendrišek in the 56th minute of the match. With his leg Miroslav Seman managed to avoid a goal in the 83rdth minute, when Lithuania's Darijus Kibildis fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 91st minute Vratislav Greško shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zenonas Kuprevičius saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 93 minutes into the match, Arūnas Mečionis had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Miroslav Seman. Slovakia's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Arūnas Mečionis was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-3. In the 95th match minute, Slovakia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Erik Jendrišek to maneuver through the defense. Lithuania's Faustas Kačinskas shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 96th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Miroslav Seman but with some difficulty. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Lithuania walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
