Dyllen Cuppens took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Peep Pronk, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Peep Pronk blasted a shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Dyllen Cuppens having to make a save. U21 Belgium's Maxim De Cuyper got a good chance for a goal in the 18th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Maxim De Cuyper's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Otto Hegeman read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 21st minute of play. Maxim De Cuyper blasted a shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Otto Hegeman having to make a save. Dyllen Cuppens made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rien Oss in the 32nd minute of play. After a rather tough play, U21 Belgium's Dennis Velkeneers got a free kick in the 35th minute. U21 Belgium's Dyllen Cuppens played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rien Oss in the 37th minute of play. In the 37th minute, Oswald De Mulder hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 42 minutes into the match, U21 Belgium's goal looked a bit too open when Allard Roswinkel came free, but Dyllen Cuppens reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, U21 Netherlands's Ronny Heide got a free kick in the 45th minute. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

U21 Belgium's supporters rose to their feet, but Maxim De Cuyper was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Otto Hegeman breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. U21 Belgium made a substitution. Cris Deprez replaced Steven Goemyne. 72 minutes into the match, U21 Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Mathias Gevaert came free, but Otto Hegeman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 73rd minute, Jim Bruin managed to get in a good position for a shot. U21 Netherlands's supporters rose to their feet, but Jim Bruin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. The supporters of U21 Netherlands booed when U21 Belgium was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Yvan Rompen didn't get a good kick on the ball. 84 minutes into the match, U21 Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Mathias Gevaert came free, but Otto Hegeman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 85 minutes into the match, U21 Belgium's goal looked a bit too open when Co Hofman came free, but Dyllen Cuppens reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ronny Heide during the 85th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.
