The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Grgur Glamočanin during the 5th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Grgur Glamočanin hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. 7 minutes into the match, U21 Croatia's goal looked a bit too open when Frímann Maríasson came free, but Egon Šijanski reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 7th match minute, U21 Croatia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Teo Trohar to maneuver through the defense. In the 9th minute, Paško Ranogajec fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Peter Gunnarsson, passed just outside the right post. Andro Mitrović hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. After 15 played minutes U21 Iceland got a freekick which was hit by Hermóður Þorleifsson. In the 16th minute, Grgur Glamočanin got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Paško Ranogajec who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 18thth minute tested the skills of Peter Gunnarsson when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Egon Šijanski came out of the goal in the 20th minute to try and stop a shot by U21 Iceland's Þyrnir Árnason. But to his dismay, Þyrnir Árnason quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. The crowd rose to their feet as U21 Croatia's Teo Trohar slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Peter Gunnarsson. That made the score 1-1 after 25 minutes of play. After 28 played minutes U21 Iceland got a freekick which was hit by Dvalinn Pétursson. Egon Šijanski showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Frímann Maríasson in the 35th minute of the match. U21 Iceland's Frímann Maríasson got a good chance for a goal in the 48th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.

The wind increased when Frímann Maríasson made the kick off in the second half. U21 Iceland were awarded a corner in the 55th minute after U21 Croatia's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Maggi Borgþórsson took the corner. Vígmundur Ingólfsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Egon Šijanski having to interfere. In the 58thth minute of the game Paško Ranogajec who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but U21 Iceland's Peter Gunnarsson was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Egon Šijanski showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Frímann Maríasson, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. Mihovil Jukić hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, U21 Croatia's Mihovil Jukić got a free kick in the 65th minute. Peter Gunnarsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Paško Ranogajec in the 66th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, U21 Croatia's Andro Mitrović got a free kick in the 73rd minute. U21 Iceland's Eiður Ingólfsson was substituted for Vígmundur Ingólfsson. In the 74th minute, Andro Mitrović hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Egon Šijanski made an important save on a dangerous shot by Adólf Hálfdánsson in the 75th minute. In the 77th minute, Grgur Glamočanin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to U21 Iceland getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Þyrnir Árnason hit a great ball. The supporters of U21 Croatia booed when U21 Iceland was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dvalinn Pétursson didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 86 minutes of play, U21 Iceland's Þyrnir Árnason made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Egon Šijanski was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a rather tough play, U21 Croatia's Fabijan Šepetavec got a free kick in the 90th minute. Egon Šijanski took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Maggi Borgþórsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 93 minutes, Guðbjarni Línbergsson made it 1-3 with a short kick to the right side. U21 Croatia's Egon Šijanski tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 96th minute Guðbjarni Línbergsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Egon Šijanski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 98th minute of the match U21 Iceland got a corner. U21 Croatia's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Maggi Borgþórsson ran over to the corner to take the kick. Þyrnir Árnason made a great header on U21 Iceland's corner, it was just that U21 Croatia's Egon Šijanski managed to reach the ball for a save. When the match was over U21 Iceland could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than U21 Croatia throughout the match.
