The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Ghenadie Vasiliu got the match started through his kick off. Marius Merz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Victor Streche went, in the 4th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ghenadie Vasiliu in the 7th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Marius Merz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 10 minutes had been played when some careless play by U21 Moldova's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Philippe-Arnaud Van Der Kuijlen was slow to take the kick. During this time U21 Switzerland's players had a chance to rest. The corner first didn't look so dangerous but when Jesaja Vega got the ball he succeeded in some way to get through the defenders to deliver a very hard score. Result 1-1. 10 minutes into the match. In the 47th match minute, U21 Switzerland was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lenny Sigrist to maneuver through the defense. U21 Moldova made a substitution. Bogdan Chetrutã replaced Adrian Vântu. U21 Moldova's Ciprian Vanghele was substituted for Victor Streche. A collision led to U21 Switzerland getting a freekick after 48 minutes play. After some careless play in the U21 Switzerland defense, Ghenadie Vasiliu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Marius Merz. The U21 Switzerland fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Marius Merz should have stopped the shot. Philippe-Arnaud Van Der Kuijlen hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. Giovanni Amiel kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in U21 Switzerland's zone, Ghenadie Vasiliu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marius Merz came out of the goal and Ghenadie Vasiliu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Marius Merz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Bogdan Chetrutã went, in the 62nd minute, to the upper right corner, 4-1 was the resulting score. In the 67thth minute of the game Ciprian Vanghele who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but U21 Switzerland's Marius Merz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Leonid Halipa kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. In the 82nd match minute, U21 Switzerland was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Giovanni Amiel to maneuver through the defense. Marius Merz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adrian Cretu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Marius Merz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Adrian Cretu in the 90th minute of the match. Ruslan Dumitras showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jerry Loiacono, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. In the 97th minute Bogdan Chetrutã shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marius Merz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. There was no doubt that U21 Moldova were the better team. U21 Moldova's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
