An unexpectedly hard shot by Oleg Arhipov in the 9th minute of play forced Lithuania's goalkeeper Arvydas Cieška to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 12th minute Svetapolk Papanov shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arvydas Cieška saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Emilis Černiauskas struck a weak shot in the 14th minute. Radamir Evdokimov didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lithuania. Arvydas Cieška made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Svetapolk Papanov in the 17th minute of play. Belarus's Radamir Evdokimov played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emilis Černiauskas in the 18th minute of play. In the 20th minute Oleg Arhipov shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arvydas Cieška saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lithuania's Arvydas Cieška played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Oleg Arhipov in the 25th minute of play. Svetapolk Papanov recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 29th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Radamir Evdokimov made an important save on a dangerous shot by Emilis Černiauskas in the 31st minute. In the 31st minute, Emilis Černiauskas reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Radamir Evdokimov. The goal made the score 1-0. The supporters of Lithuania booed when Belarus was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Oleg Gaevsky didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 38th minute of the match Edgaras Račys sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Radamir Evdokimov skillfully saved the ball. After 39 minutes Belarus's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Edgaras Račys who took care of the corner kick. Radamir Evdokimov showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emilis Černiauskas, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. Radamir Evdokimov came out of the goal in the 46th minute to try and stop a shot by Lithuania's Emilis Černiauskas. But to his dismay, Emilis Černiauskas quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Oleg Arhipov made a kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Belarus's goal looked a bit too open when Dinaras Zapalskis came free, but Radamir Evdokimov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Radamir Evdokimov showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gintautas Petukas, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. In the 60th minute Lithuania were awarded a corner. Edgaras Račys went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Lithuania's Dinaras Zapalskis to fire away a dangerous shot which Radamir Evdokimov despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. When the match had gone on for 62 minutes, Mateush Lubovich took a quick shot and it went in 2-1 without a chance for Arvydas Cieška to make any attempt to save it. Emilis Černiauskas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Belarus's Oleg Arhipov in the 69th minute got a chance for a shot 69th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Lithuania's goalie prevented a goal. 71 minutes into the match, Belarus's goal looked a bit too open when Emilis Černiauskas came free, but Radamir Evdokimov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Arvydas Cieška took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Oleg Arhipov, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Emilis Černiauskas in the 79th minute of play forced Belarus's goalkeeper Radamir Evdokimov to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Emilis Černiauskas in the 84th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Radamir Evdokimov saved Belarus from getting behind. 88 minutes into the match, Belarus's goal looked a bit too open when Emilis Černiauskas came free, but Radamir Evdokimov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Radamir Evdokimov took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gintautas Petukas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lithuania's Arvydas Cieška proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 91st minute of the match, managed to save Lithuania from getting a goal against them. Arvydas Cieška made a fantastic save in the 93rd minute, when Georgij Dzerzhinsky sent off a good shot on target. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Lithuania had won after a very even match.
