10 Years

Not sure how much I can really claim this on account of my inactivity since about Season 53, but my Club Member badge will soon say otherwise so...

10 years ago, in a day of boredom I happened to be going through a draw in my desk and pulled out a print off of my team from 2003 (I never tidied often) so I thought, why not? Let's see what has changed.

As it turned out, not very much at that point but I stayed anyway, for what I presumed would be a brief stay, so 10 years on and a little bit more happened and I'm just about here, at least in person.

What does the future hold? Who knows, I can't say I've worked up any urge to return, my players haven't trained for months and I remember the effort it took to go through my first major rebuild of 3 years to win the EPL.

The community has changed, the game has shrunk, certainly in England where I have once again stayed up in Division 1 despite not actually training any players or setting a tactic for the current sim.

2007-2008 was the golden age of MZ sign-ups, for those who joined around me, the likes of frankzappa, darkline, whinswood and more, there can't be that many of us left now.

Do I regret ever finding that bit of paper in my drawer? Probably not, although I certainly wasted a lot of time!

Here's to the future of MZ, with a sim which still resides in a time long before I joined, but a game which has ultimately changed beyond all recognition.

Congrats Mos ! I always remember you as a very active forum user back in the days, and you were also the National Coach of England at one point if I remember correctly.

Hope you'll stick around; the MZ community would lose an icon if you leave. I joined in October 2008. True, I've left the game twice or three times, but I always came back. This time round I'm here to stay :)

I know the feeling bud, the game isn't what it was. The community is on life support sadly, I hardly post on the forums because there's nothing really worth posting on. The loss of Whinswood will definitely be another blow. I'm somewhat active, long gone are the days where I'd spend hours a day on MZ, my logins these days tend to be Wednesday and Sundays with the occasional login on other days (mainly for transfers or some other reason, not out of desire). I'm happy enough with my current activity, I don't feel the need or see the need for any increase, there's nothing to bring me on every day anymore. There's too many competitions that I just enter for the fact it's free, I hardly even focus on competitions, just the league. I'm 1 short of dantoes 11 WPL titles, I want to better that and my days in MZ will be limited from then. I've just spent a club record transfer fee on a striker to hopefully demolish the WPL next season, I just need a defender and maybe a midfielder to cement it really. I won't be around in the next 2-3 years, not that I can see anyway unless things change. I'm coming up to 13 years in March.

Hey Rob, good to see you around, I agree that 2007/08 was a lot of fun, had a lot or healthy rivalries with Season 20 teams and put a lot of time and effort improving my team in those early years.

The game changed a lot from those golden years, it was harder & more challenging and therefore more rewarding, you had to invest smart, slowly improve your finances, build your stadium, etc., I remember it took me something like 3 seasons until I finally was able to reach my first million...

Happy 10 years!

MZ keeps printing money, and inflation runs high...

Our battles in D3.1 (when getting promoted out of D3 in England was a difficult task and actually meant something) seem like they're from another lifetime!
I guess The Snakes will be 10 soon too :/

Ah yes, Division 3.1, before the days of randomised relegation led to a very lop-sided pyramid.

The funny thing was, I don't think we ever met in the league again in the 30+ seasons since.

I'm now in a position to challenge for that elusive 11th WPL title, that's the record levelling one. One more after that and I've taken the outright lead =D

P.s. how's your welding? Need an NDT Technician to tell you? ;)
