When Iwan Bazan came up free with the goalie in the 10th minute, the Poland fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Iwan Bazan couldn't finish the play. Jari Litmanen's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mikolaj Michnik read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 15th minute of play. Finland's Heikki Kokkonen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sebastian Lodowy in the 18th minute of play. With a little luck, Poland's Mikolaj Michnik got control of the ball when Jari Litmanen tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Sebastian Lodowy had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 22 minutes into the match, Finland's goal looked a bit too open when Sebastian Lodowy came free, but Heikki Kokkonen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Poland getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Iwan Bazan hit a great ball. Sebastian Lodowy fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Heikki Kokkonen having to interfere. Jari Litmanen in the 29thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Mikolaj Michnik, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 32nd minute, Klement Wielgopolski hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Poland's Wincent Ludwa was substituted for Sebastian Lodowy. In the 46th minute, Taito Koskenkorva hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Poland's Iwan Bazan in the 47th minute got a chance for a shot 47th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Finland's goalie prevented a goal. After 47 minutes, Iwan Bazan made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Finland's Heikki Kokkonen tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Mikolaj Michnik was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tymoteusz Cwojdak got free with Heikki Kokkonen in the 77th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Heikki Kokkonen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tymoteusz Cwojdak, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 85th minute, Tymoteusz Cwojdak managed to get in a good position for a shot. Poland's supporters rose to their feet, but Tymoteusz Cwojdak was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Heikki Kokkonen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Poland booed when Finland was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Juho Rissanen didn't get a good kick on the ball. Finland were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Poland for a fine match.
