The supporters of Persepolis F.C. booed when -BZF- Fc Gheraseni was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Avram Coja didn't get a good kick on the ball. Irinel Dobrițoiu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rolf Buckner, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 13th match minute, -BZF- Fc Gheraseni was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Corneliu Pârlea to maneuver through the defense. Dennis Rhoades made an important save on a dangerous shot by Aurelian Nae in the 15th minute. After 21 played minutes Persepolis F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Gus Dorsey. 25 minutes into the game, Aurelian Nae recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Dennis Rhoades. Aurelian Nae showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Art Rhoades in the 28th minute of play forced -BZF- Fc Gheraseni's goalkeeper Irinel Dobrițoiu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Avram Coja hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Aurelian Nae got free with Dennis Rhoades in the 32nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Martin Filipoiu kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. Irinel Dobrițoiu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arden Poulin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Irinel Dobrițoiu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Arden Poulin went, in the 35th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. In the 39th minute, Gus Dorsey hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Aurelian Nae had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Edgar Bouleanu hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Dennis Rhoades showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aurelian Nae in the 54th minute of the match. With an all-out effort, Persepolis F.C.'s Irinel Dobrițoiu threw himself towards the right post 56 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Warren London, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 57th match minute, Persepolis F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Everett Swartz to maneuver through the defense. In the 59th minute, Edgar Bouleanu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 61 played minutes -BZF- Fc Gheraseni got a freekick which was hit by Adam Balțoi. After a rather tough play, Persepolis F.C.'s Geraldo Wall got a free kick in the 67th minute. The supporters of Persepolis F.C. booed when -BZF- Fc Gheraseni was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edgar Bouleanu didn't get a good kick on the ball. 74 minutes into the match, Rolf Buckner notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of -BZF- Fc Gheraseni's Irinel Dobrițoiu. Irinel Dobrițoiu was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Dennis Rhoades made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aurelian Nae in the 77th minute of play. Gelu Gorunescu's late challenge caught a Persepolis F.C.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gelu Gorunescu helped the player get up and apologised. Gelu Gorunescu hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. Art Rhoades blasted a shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Irinel Dobrițoiu having to make a save. After some fancy dribbling in the 84th minute, Aurelian Nae managed to get in a good position for a shot. -BZF- Fc Gheraseni's supporters rose to their feet, but Aurelian Nae was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dennis Rhoades breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 87th minute, Persepolis F.C.'s Arden Poulin ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Irinel Dobrițoiu. Irinel Dobrițoiu yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-3. -BZF- Fc Gheraseni's Aurelian Nae got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. -BZF- Fc Gheraseni's Irinel Dobrițoiu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arden Poulin in the 93rd minute of play. After a rather tough play, -BZF- Fc Gheraseni's Eliodor Oproiu got a free kick in the 93rd minute. Irinel Dobrițoiu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Geraldo Wall in the 95th minute of play. When the match was over Persepolis F.C. could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than -BZF- Fc Gheraseni throughout the match.
