With a little luck, MCFC's Erik Dalheim got control of the ball when Tor-Ivar Jahr tried to sneak it across the goal line. When the match had gone on for 12 minutes, Tor-Ivar Jahr took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Erik Dalheim to make any attempt to save it. In the 17th minute the ball was on its way in behind MCFC's goalkeeper Erik Dalheim, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Erik Dalheim made a fantastic save in the 20th minute, when Tor-Ivar Jahr sent off a good shot on target. Christer Søyland lost his temper 22 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. MCFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ophus the free kick. Erik Dalheim showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Abraham Koppang, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. The supporters of Ophus booed when MCFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Thorbjørn Singstad didn't get a good kick on the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Tor-Ivar Jahr ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cent Årvik in the 68th minute of play forced MCFC's goalkeeper Erik Dalheim to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ophus's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
