The audience thought a goal was coming when Anthony Reid got free with Tommy Harris in the 7th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Brian Longstaff in the 12th minute of play forced Knights of the Spring's goalkeeper Russ Webster to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dom Halliday received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Tommy Harris tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Moreton AFC's Tommy Harris played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Micheal Goodman in the 15th minute of play. After 19 played minutes, Moreton AFC's Seth Garnett shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Russ Webster came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Moreton AFC reached it. The referee felt a red card was in order, 21 minutes into the game, when Alan Willets put in a rough tackle. After 20 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Knights of the Spring! The referee gave Moreton AFC a penalty, 23 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Seth Garnett, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Knights of the Spring's Russ Webster. 0-1. Moreton AFC's Cliff Brennan got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Anthony Reid fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tommy Harris having to interfere. Russ Webster didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Brian Longstaff went, in the 35th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Russ Webster took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Brian Longstaff, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cliff Brennan might have been able to make a better finish in the 43rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Russ Webster. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cliff Brennan ran back to his position shaking his head. When Robert Oddy came up free with the goalie in the 48th minute, the Moreton AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Robert Oddy couldn't finish the play. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

After 57 played minutes Moreton AFC got a freekick which was hit by Dale Lindley. Russ Webster made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Cliff Brennan sent off a good shot on target. In the 65th minute, Robert Oddy hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Micheal Goodman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Brian Longstaff sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Russ Webster was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Brian Longstaff showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-3 in the 84 minute of play. The supporters of Knights of the Spring booed when Moreton AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Liam Ward didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 89th minute, Micheal Goodman got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Moreton AFC's zone, Edward Biernat stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tommy Harris came out of the goal and Edward Biernat tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Edward Biernat came up free with the goalie in the 92nd minute, the Knights of the Spring fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edward Biernat couldn't finish the play. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Moreton AFC walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
