So I've been playing properly for around 3/4 months now.
All my players main skills are 8,9 or 10. For their keeping/tackling/passing/shooting. Backed up with between 7-9 speed and stamina. They then usually have a half decent 2nd back up skill for their position.
However I am getting my arse handed to me in these cups and friendlies.
Is it mostly tactics based or the fact my players are young and exp is beating them every time.
What standard of players do the most experienced managers have 10/10/10 in speed, stam and main skill?

I’d say if you have those backed up with 55 to 60 balls overall. Your doing well for a new team.
Remember MZ is a Ultra Marathon not a Marathon or Sprint 😳😉
Secondary skills really depend on what tactics your playing. If wing then you need your defenders with 6/7 AP and CMs with 8+
Winger 10 AP
If you play short every one needs 8 passing.

Your tactic is strange, you’ve adapted a common tactic but changed critical parts. You’re defence is too deep and the gap between your midfield and centre backs is too great. Your central mids are also too wide. If you want a reference you can check my tactic out. I use wings and only have a team of U23 players atm but they are a top U23 team. You should use the same or only slightly different backs and midfielders but adapt it up too only to play SP. That’s only one tactic though, as you play more skilful teams you really need to have a few different tactics and try and play a back 5 against wings, place your strikers in the gaps of their defence etc. I’d suggest you look at a few other tactic variants too
You’re never going to be very competitive it big cups until your team has all over 60 balls and 8+ experience. You should be able to see some success domestically in your league and against teams that started around the same time. A season cup is always a good marking stick for this.

Thanks guys. I've been checking the forum to work on formation etc.
I keep hearing the wings are over powered but I don't want to play wings. So my plan is short. So will need passing 8+ on all players.
Where my players need to be on the pitch is new to me.
So will keep adapting. My hope is I do well this season but no reason promoting to relegate straight away. I need to work on my youths and continue to bring new better players in.
If I don't want wings what formation should I have?
