Seating: 4027, VIP seats: 350) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Austmar Hjaltason took the kick off in the first half of the match. 9 minutes into the match, Albania's goal looked a bit too open when Austmar Hjaltason came free, but Marjus Laçka reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Ilmi Duka's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Petr Čech was relentless in the 10th minute of the game. When the match had gone on for 10 minutes, Ilmi Duka put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Petr Čech. With an all-out effort, Iceland's Marjus Laçka threw himself towards the right post 15 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Austmar Hjaltason, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Marjus Laçka made an important save on a dangerous shot by Austmar Hjaltason in the 17th minute. Marjus Laçka showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Allan Þrándsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. Mehat Kovaçi might have been able to make a better finish in the 21st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Petr Čech. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mehat Kovaçi ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mehat Kovaçi in the 21st minute of play forced Iceland's goalkeeper Petr Čech to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marjus Laçka took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Austmar Hjaltason, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Petr Čech showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mehat Kovaçi in the 28th minute of the match. Mehat Kovaçi took the ball and in the 29 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Petr Čech. Petr Čech dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. The audience thought a goal was coming when Austmar Hjaltason got free with Marjus Laçka in the 33rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 33 minutes, Austmar Hjaltason made it 1-2 with a short kick to the right side. Albania's Marjus Laçka tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 36th minute Austmar Hjaltason shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marjus Laçka saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Iceland's Petr Čech played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ilmi Duka in the 39th minute of play. In the 41st minute of the match, Allan Þrándsson tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Marjus Laçka saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 42 minutes into the match, Albania's goal looked a bit too open when Allan Þrándsson came free, but Marjus Laçka reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, Albania's Marjus Laçka got control of the ball when Austmar Hjaltason tried to sneak it across the goal line. Petr Čech showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mehat Kovaçi, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nderim Pepo to make the kick off. Nderim Pepo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 54th minute of the match, but Petr Čech made a huge save. When the match had gone on for 64 minutes, Austmar Hjaltason put it in 2-2 from a short distance just to the right of Marjus Laçka. An unexpectedly hard shot by Austmar Hjaltason in the 66th minute of play forced Albania's goalkeeper Marjus Laçka to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marjus Laçka made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kristinn Ingimundarson in the 70th minute of play. 72 minutes into the game, Iceland's Kristinn Ingimundarson nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Marjus Laçka made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-2. Marjus Laçka showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Allan Þrándsson in the 76th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Allan Þrándsson in the 80th minute of play forced Albania's goalkeeper Marjus Laçka to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nertil Maldini lost his temper 83 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Albania fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 82nd minute. Penalty! In the 84th minute there was a penalty for Iceland. Jóhannes Skaptason stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Marjus Laçka. 4-2. A collision led to Iceland getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Marbjörn Garpsson hit a great ball. 92 minutes into the match, Albania's goal looked a bit too open when Kristinn Ingimundarson came free, but Marjus Laçka reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 94 minutes into the game, Kristinn Ingimundarson cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-2. Marjus Laçka was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. There was no doubt that Iceland were the better team. Iceland's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
