The new youth Scout Report has been launched!

12-06-2019 11:00

We are excited to announce that the highly anticipated youth Scout Report has been added to the game! Those of you who likes to micro-manage will have ample opportunity to do so, while managers with a more relaxed approach will enjoy the excitement of casually browsing the Youth Exchange and trade in any gems that may pop up. Either way, we think you will find our newest feature a fascinating addition to the game!

What does it do?

In ManagerZone, maxings are a big deal. You want your players to max late, so they can reach the highest ball/puck count possible. The youth Scout Report will be crucial in helping you decide which youths to retain, develop and use for youth competition. The report shows you:

  • The two attributes with the highest future potential.
  • A star rating between 1-4, which is based on a few of the player's highest potential attributes.
  • The two attributes with the lowest future potential.
  • A star rating between 1-4, based on a few of the player's lowest potential attributes.
  • Youth training speed. This will indicate how fast the player will train as a youth. A player who trains slowly as a youth (compared to other youths) may train much better as a senior (compared to other seniors).

The report, once you have viewed it, will never change. It will follow the player until he retires, whether he stays in your team or not. The report will also be accessible on the market, giving both the seller and possible buyers equal information.

The scout report will only be available for new players who enter the game as youths, as well as all current youths.

You can find the report by clicking the icon on a player's card.

Note: if there is a tie between attributes for either of the highest or lowest potential, one will be picked at random. If for instance a player has potential to reach 10 in three attributes, two of them will be randomly selected. Same applies to the weaknesses.

How to use the new Scout Report

How you manage your academy is frankly none of our business, but these pointers may help you on the way:

A player with 4 stars under highest potential is obviously very skillful, but it is worth noting that the stars do not tell the whole story. Such a player has superb potential in top attributes but could still run into early maxings elsewhere, forcing you to give up and trigger a Youth Exchange.

A player with 3 stars under highest potential could potentially be very good, even national team material. A manager who ignores all 3-star players will end up discarding some of the most talented youths that otherwise would have graduated from his/her club. The Scout Report is a great tool, but will not do all the work for you.

Drop rates

Each time you use the Scout Report on a new player, the chance of achieving a certain star rating will be as follows:

Highest potential
1 star: very rare
2 stars: ~45%
3 stars: ~51%
4 stars: ~4%
Lowest potential
1 star: ~53%
2 stars: ~47%
3-4 stars: very rare

Note: we will continuously monitor these drop rates and may adjust them if needed. If so, the community will be notified.

Youth Training Packages

The old scout function is no longer necessary, since the new report will help you decide roles for your players in a much more informed and personal way. With the old scout gone, the former Youth Package feature has played out its part too.

In order to give you more control of your academy than ever, a new Youth Training Camp section has been installed. These consist of only two attributes per package, which makes it easier to mold your players into roles.

Note that you can of course send your youth players to any of the other Training Camp packages as well, but the new youth packages will give you additional alternatives.

There is no youth package targeted at keepers - this is not a mistake. We do not want to make any suggestion as to which additional attribute should be trained along with keeping, so we opted against offering any keeper based youth package. You will have to go the traditional route through the existing Training Camp packages when developing your keepers.

We also opted out of offering Play Intelligence as part of youth packages, since youths train very slowly in that attribute, and Set Pieces (in football) because it is an attribute that most managers do not want to train in camps.

Unlimited Youth Conditioning Camps

Up until today, there has been a maximum amount of players that you can send to YCC during a season. This max cap has now been removed, allowing you to send as many players to YCC as you wish. This makes it possible for you to take full advantage of the Youth Exchange as well as the new Scout Report.

Rebalancing

During the early stages of the design process, the community took a part in the decision making through a series of threads in the forum to ensure that no crucial aspects were overlooked. We think that this has been a fruitful collaboration and wish to thank all of you who contributed. One particular issue that was raised by many, is whether or not the new Scout Report will lead to an inflation of highly skilled players in the game.

We think that this is a concern worth taking seriously and as a result, we have rebalanced the underlying potential of new youth players (who enter the game after this release), making 4-star players less common than they otherwise would have been. Note that this rebalancing does not affect any players that enter the game as seniors, nor does it affect players who were created prior to this release.

We will be answering questions and listening to feedback in the forums, so please use that route if you have something on your mind related to this new feature.

Happy scouting!
