New football stats are LIVE

25-11-2024 11:20

For all you stats enthusiasts, exciting features have just been added to the football game. Since the early days of ManagerZone, tracking assists has topped the community's wish list. We recently took a deep dive into the simulation engine to see what useful stats we could pull — and not just assists. The results? More than we'd hoped for!

If you go to any match page, you'll notice that stats are now organized into two sections. The Compact tab shows a sample of stats, while the Detailed tab offers a whole new level of insights. Note that the new stats are only available for matches that were simulated after around 11.20AM, November 25, 2024.

Here's what you'll find in the Detailed tab:
  • Player Speed Analysis: Check your players' average speed, both while running and in possession of the ball. This helps you ensure your fastest players are fully utilizing their speed.
  • Shooting Accuracy: View each player's Shots on Target percentage and Goals per Shot percentage.
  • Movement Tracking: Measure player activity across the pitch by total distance covered.
  • Ball Possession: See each player's total time in possession, expressed in minutes and seconds, alongside a percentage of the team's overall possession. If your best players aren't getting enough touches, try adjusting their positions.
  • Passing Details: Gain a detailed view of successful and failed passes, plus each player's average pass length. This is especially valuable if your game strategy relies on long passes or crosses.
  • Tackling Details: a detailed view of successful and failed tackles.

Additionally, you'll find new columns for minutes played, yellow and red cards, own goals, corners, free kicks and penalties.

In the compact tab, we have added stats that we consider to be extra valuable. During the Beta test period, concerns were raised that the compact tab should look exactly the same as before. However, we want to include Assists and show the stats in a neatly organized table even on mobile devices, which means we have to compromise with the limited space on offer. Also, we want to make sure the compact tab shows only the most relevant information. These are our reasons for the content in the compact tab, but feel free to voice your concerns if you do not agree with our assessment.

As part of this update, we have also made changes to how match time is displayed. You will notice that matches will now appear shorter in terms of minutes played. In actuality, however, matches are equally long as before, we have just made sure that all time indications are more accurate.

In order to minimize any trouble associated with this release, we did make it available on our beta pages for several weeks. A few bugs were fixed thanks to feedback that was sent to us. Thank you for this! It is our hope that this release is bug free, but should you encounter any problems, please reach out and let us know, either via the forum or via the support contact forms.

We hope you have a lot of fun exploring these new insights!
