Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Jan Zwirn started the match with the kick off. In the 2nd match minute, Argentina was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Damian Suarez to maneuver through the defense. 4 minutes into the match, Argentina's goal looked a bit too open when Tom Piretti came free, but Marciano Manex reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Benedicto Naelio in the 9thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Kim-André van der Schans, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Marciano Manex showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Diego Marthaler, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. Marciano Manex made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Diego Marthaler in the 15th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Argentina's Benedicto Naelio slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Kim-André van der Schans. That made the score 1-0 after 21 minutes of play. If Benedicto Naelio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Kim-André van der Schans took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Benedicto Naelio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Honorio Ihintza got free with Kim-André van der Schans in the 35th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The corner led Argentina's Honorio Ihintza to fire away a dangerous shot which Kim-André van der Schans despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Marciano Manex made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Diego Marthaler in the 43rd minute of play. Thanks to some nice moves Honorio Ihintza could shoot a difficult shot in the 44th minute, which Kim-André van der Schans however easily saved by the left post. Kim-André van der Schans showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Benedicto Naelio in the 48th minute of the match. After 49 minutes Switzerland's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Honorio Ihintza who took care of the corner kick. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

54 minutes into the match, Argentina's Honorio Ihintza sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Kim-André van der Schans narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 56th minute, Jan Zwirn got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
