With a little luck, U21 Bulgaria's Gruyo Popiliev got control of the ball when Don Gato tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 30th minute Denimir Tzonkov shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Domingos Turienzo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as U21 Colombia's Don Gato slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Gruyo Popiliev. That made the score 2-1 after 40 minutes of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rian Giggs in the 43rd minute of play forced U21 Bulgaria's goalkeeper Gruyo Popiliev to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Don Gato had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 49th minute of the match U21 Bulgaria got a corner. U21 Colombia's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Alexey Keresteliev ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on U21 Bulgaria's corner Alexey Keresteliev fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Domingos Turienzo quite easily take care of the ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

With a couple of smart ball manuevers Denimir Tzonkov in the 53rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Domingos Turienzo saved U21 Colombia from getting behind. Vladislav Trúpchev charged in rather forcefully in the 53rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Vladislav Trúpchev the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to U21 Bulgaria getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Vladislav Trúpchev hit a great ball. When Rian Giggs came up free with the goalie in the 55th minute, the U21 Colombia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rian Giggs couldn't finish the play. After 57 minutes of play, U21 Bulgaria's Denimir Tzonkov made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Domingos Turienzo was left in no man's land by his defense there! After some fancy dribbling in the 63rd minute, Johan Mojica managed to get in a good position for a shot. U21 Colombia's supporters rose to their feet, but Johan Mojica was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gruyo Popiliev breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. U21 Colombia made a substitution. Benito Martinez replaced Arjen Robben. U21 Colombia's Hechter Lastras was substituted for Rian Giggs. U21 Colombia's Cristiano Ronaldinho was substituted for Don Gato. If Denimir Tzonkov had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 83rd minute Johan Mojica shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gruyo Popiliev saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 91 minutes into the match, U21 Bulgaria's goal looked a bit too open when Hechter Lastras came free, but Gruyo Popiliev reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Domingos Turienzo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Emil Kostadinov's shot from short distance in the 94th minute. U21 Colombia's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
