William Tau showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kermit Arthur in the 4th minute of the match. Canada's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Virgilio Solomon in the 5th minute. Krystian Żmuda took the ball and in the 8 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised William Tau. William Tau dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. South Africa made a substitution. Lebang Nhlapo replaced Patrice Thwala. A collision led to Canada getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Andrea Gorman hit a great ball. South Africa's William Tau played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Krystian Żmuda in the 24th minute of play. 0-2 became the score in the 27th minute when Krystian Żmuda elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Krystian Żmuda in the 31st minute of play forced South Africa's goalkeeper William Tau to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 32 minutes into the match, South Africa's goal looked a bit too open when Krystian Żmuda came free, but William Tau reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Krystian Żmuda took the ball and in the 32 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised William Tau. William Tau dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. Dele Ali hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. 37 minutes into the game, Krystian Żmuda cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-4. William Tau was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. William Tau didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Krystian Żmuda went, in the 44th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-5 was the resulting score. After the first half Canada were leading 0-5. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Krystian Żmuda made the kick off in the second half. Krystian Żmuda recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 53rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. William Tau showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Krystian Żmuda, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. South Africa's William Tau played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Krystian Żmuda in the 57th minute of play. In the 61st minute of the match, Krystian Żmuda tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but William Tau saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. William Tau was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 70 minutes into the match, Alfred Wanani had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Efren Chrétien. Canada's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Alfred Wanani was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-7. In the 75th minute Claude Burkhart shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but William Tau saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 81st minute of the match, Claude Burkhart tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but William Tau saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. The audience was convinced that Claude Burkhart's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but William Tau was relentless in the 85th minute of the game. In the 86th minute of the match Canada got a corner. South Africa's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Virgilio Solomon ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led to Canada's Andrea Gorman getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. South Africa's Alfred Mkhonza was substituted for Sam Mufumadi. With an all-out effort, Canada's William Tau threw himself towards the right post 92 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Claude Burkhart, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 93 minutes into the game, Claude Burkhart cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-8. William Tau was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When the match was over Canada could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than South Africa throughout the match.
