China's 曲泉振 played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marc Larsson in the 4th minute of play. If Van 杨坚 had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Berting Nakpawan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Van 杨坚, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. Van 杨坚 blasted a shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Berting Nakpawan having to make a save. Van 杨坚 took the ball and in the 33 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Berting Nakpawan. Berting Nakpawan dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. In the 36th match minute, Philippines was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Clint Gosum to maneuver through the defense. Berting Nakpawan stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Van 杨坚's shot from short distance in the 41st minute. After 46 played minutes Philippines got a freekick which was hit by Ernie Tongol. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

China made a substitution. Shi Qing Jian replaced Ke Ran Ao. China's 巩飞迅 was substituted for Van 杨坚. 巩飞迅 sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 巩飞迅's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Berting Nakpawan read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 57th minute of play. 彭旭鹏 blasted a shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Berting Nakpawan having to make a save. Marc Larsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Philippines made a substitution. Everett Quengua replaced Aureliano Guanlao. A throw-in in the 78th minute of the game was made by Benjamin Araneta with Everett Quengua as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. The crowd rose to their feet as China's 巩飞迅 slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Berting Nakpawan. That made the score 0-2 after 79 minutes of play. Berting Nakpawan didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from 巩飞迅 went, in the 87th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. In the 90th minute Everett Quengua shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but 曲泉振 saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers 巩飞迅 in the 92nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Berting Nakpawan saved Philippines from getting behind. After a rather tough play, China's 彭平明 got a free kick in the 93rd minute. Calvin Nogoy took the ball and in the 96 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised 曲泉振. 曲泉振 dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3.
