The corner ended in Laurence Reed almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but U21 Costa Rica's Nestor Villalobos did a great save. The audience was convinced that Alberto Serrano's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Todd Hilton was relentless in the 7th minute of the game. Alejandro Robles made a great header on U21 Costa Rica's corner, it was just that U21 Senegal's Todd Hilton managed to reach the ball for a save. A collision led to U21 Senegal getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Rueben Braithwaite hit a great ball. When the match clock showed 15 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Alberto Serrano sped through U21 Senegal's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Todd Hilton. Blair Gale kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, U21 Senegal's Leo Shuttleworth got a free kick in the 22nd minute. After having played for 23 minutes, Alejandro Robles managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. U21 Costa Rica's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alejandro Robles was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, U21 Costa Rica's Alberto Serrano got a free kick in the 25th minute. After a defensive mix-up in U21 Costa Rica's zone, Ronny Schofield stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nestor Villalobos came out of the goal and Ronny Schofield tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 38 minutes U21 Senegal's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Alejandro Robles who took care of the corner kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alberto Serrano in the 41st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Todd Hilton saved U21 Senegal from getting behind. Ronny Schofield's late challenge caught a U21 Costa Rica's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ronny Schofield helped the player get up and apologised. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

After 58 minutes, Alberto Serrano made it 0-2 with a short kick to the right side. U21 Senegal's Todd Hilton tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Leonel Ruiz during the 61st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. U21 Senegal's Todd Hilton proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 71st minute of the match, managed to save U21 Senegal from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marlon Tully in the 72nd minute of play forced U21 Costa Rica's goalkeeper Nestor Villalobos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to U21 Senegal getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Ronny Schofield hit a great ball. U21 Costa Rica's Bernie Castro was substituted for Alvin Millot. After a rather tough play, U21 Senegal's Ronny Schofield got a free kick in the 76th minute. After some careless play in the U21 Senegal defense, Arsenio Chavarria kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Todd Hilton. The U21 Senegal fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Todd Hilton should have stopped the shot. Harvey Saunders charged in rather forcefully in the 79th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Harvey Saunders the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to U21 Senegal getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. The U21 Senegal players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
