Seating: 237, VIP seats: 20) U21 Austria's Gordon Aigner started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Ralf-Willy Nördershäuser's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Silas Rausis read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 4th minute of play. In the 5th minute of the match U21 Austria got a corner. U21 Switzerland's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Rolf Fiedeler ran over to the corner to take the kick. 9 minutes into the game, U21 Switzerland's Reto Pfulg nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Andreas Seiler made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Reto Pfulg during the 13th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 13th minute, Reto Pfulg hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 14th minute, Rolf Fiedeler made a precise shot to the right of Silas Rausis. U21 Switzerland's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. When U21 Switzerland's Julien Ubersechs in the 21st minute got a chance for a shot 21st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye U21 Austria's goalie prevented a goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ralf-Willy Nördershäuser in the 22nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. In the 23rd match minute, U21 Switzerland was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jamal Oester to maneuver through the defense. Andreas Seiler didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Reto Pfulg went, in the 26th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. When U21 Switzerland's Julien Ubersechs in the 30th minute got a chance for a shot 30th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye U21 Austria's goalie prevented a goal. In the 36th minute, Julien Ubersechs left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The U21 Switzerland fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-3. Silas Rausis had great luck who in the 39thth minute grab hold of the ball when Gordon Aigner from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. In the 40thth minute of the game Reto Pfulg who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but U21 Austria's Andreas Seiler was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 42 minutes into the match, U21 Switzerland's goalkeeper Silas Rausis had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rolf Fiedeler. 47 minutes into the game, Steffen Spengler was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. U21 Austria's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave U21 Switzerland the free kick. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 2-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Julien Ubersechs made a kick off. Andreas Seiler made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Reto Pfulg in the 51st minute of play. After 61 played minutes U21 Austria got a freekick which was hit by Robin Blüher. The corner ended in Jamal Oester almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but U21 Austria's Andreas Seiler did a great save. A collision led to U21 Austria getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Robin Blüher hit a great ball. In the 67th match minute, U21 Austria was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Robin Blüher to maneuver through the defense. Silas Rausis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dennis Fritzenwanker in the 69th minute of the match. Andreas Seiler stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Reto Pfulg's shot from short distance in the 70th minute. Silas Rausis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Robin Blüher in the 72nd minute of play. U21 Switzerland's Timon Del Piero was substituted for Julien Ubersechs. After 75 minutes U21 Switzerland's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Dennis Fritzenwanker who took care of the corner kick. The corner led U21 Austria's Eduard Kozlik to fire away a dangerous shot which Silas Rausis despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Reto Pfulg in the 85th minute of play forced U21 Austria's goalkeeper Andreas Seiler to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of U21 Austria booed when U21 Switzerland was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jochen Feiss didn't get a good kick on the ball. Silas Rausis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dennis Fritzenwanker, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. After some careless play in the U21 Switzerland defense, Ralf-Willy Nördershäuser kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Silas Rausis. The U21 Switzerland fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Silas Rausis should have stopped the shot. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. U21 Austria had won after a very even match.
