After taking down the ball on U21 Colombia's corner Philipp Lam fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Andy Rivera quite easily take care of the ball. In the 26th match minute, U21 Colombia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ivan Cordoba to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, U21 Colombia's Oihan Altamirano got control of the ball when Aldo Popolizio tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in U21 Peru's zone, Ovando Naveira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Andy Rivera came out of the goal and Ovando Naveira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. U21 Colombia's Masao Koriotto was substituted for Juninho Pernambucano. U21 Colombia made a substitution. Aldo Popolizio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Oihan Altamirano having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The supporters of U21 Peru booed when U21 Colombia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Masao Koriotto didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 81st minute, U21 Peru's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Curcio Tobalina fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. 85 minutes into the match, Curcio Tobalina had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Andy Rivera. U21 Peru's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Curcio Tobalina was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. Soykan Son's late challenge caught a U21 Colombia's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Soykan Son helped the player get up and apologised. U21 Colombia made a substitution. Frans Viñambres replaced Masao Koriotto. A collision led to U21 Peru getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Soykan Son hit a great ball. Andy Rivera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Curcio Tobalina in the 95th minute of the match. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
