After some fancy dribbling in the 2nd minute, Ibar Codina managed to get in a good position for a shot. U21 Uruguay's supporters rose to their feet, but Ibar Codina was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Anton Babichev breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Anton Babichev took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Benvido Ilarraza, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to U21 Kazakhstan getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Leonid Soloviev hit a great ball. In the 14th minute, Benvido Ilarraza ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Anton Babichev was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. In the 18th minute, Oleg Sobolev hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ibar Codina scored 0-2 in the 19th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Anton Babichev, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Anton Babichev showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Benvido Ilarraza in the 22nd minute of the match. When U21 Uruguay's Ibar Codina in the 23rd minute got a chance for a shot 23rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye U21 Kazakhstan's goalie prevented a goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ibar Codina in the 27th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Anton Babichev prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 30 minutes into the match, U21 Uruguay's Benvido Ilarraza sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Anton Babichev narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Benvido Ilarraza in the 32nd minute of play forced U21 Kazakhstan's goalkeeper Anton Babichev to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ibar Codina sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When Denis Paramoshin came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the U21 Kazakhstan fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Denis Paramoshin couldn't finish the play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Vitaliy Schukin to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute, U21 Uruguay's Benvido Ilarraza ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Anton Babichev. Anton Babichev yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-4. Benvido Ilarraza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Anton Babichev tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. U21 Uruguay made a substitution. Martin Ballack replaced Martin Vidanes. A hard shot 61 in the game by Ibar Codina from a close distance when the talented Anton Babichev managed to make a qualified save. U21 Kazakhstan's players were relieved. U21 Uruguay's Ferdinand Bargues was substituted for Alejandro Casado. Benvido Ilarraza could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 69th minute of the match, but Anton Babichev made a huge save. Anton Babichev didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Chayo Alcayde went, in the 70th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-6 was the resulting score. Anton Babichev made a fantastic save in the 74th minute, when Benvido Ilarraza sent off a good shot on target. Benvido Ilarraza did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 0-7 to the left of a surprised Anton Babichev 75 minutes into the match. U21 Uruguay's Chayo Alcayde was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Anton Babichev in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Anton Babichev showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Chayo Alcayde in the 81st minute of the match. Leonid Soloviev's late challenge caught a U21 Uruguay's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Leonid Soloviev helped the player get up and apologised. In the 82nd minute, Leonid Soloviev hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Anton Babichev stood somewhat misplaced when Ibar Codina came free in front of goal and shot 0-8 to the left of him in the 85 minute. When Oleg Sobolev fell near the penalty area in the 88th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored U21 Kazakhstan's protests and gave Oleg Sobolev a yellow card for diving instead. After 88 played minutes U21 Kazakhstan got a freekick which was hit by Oleg Sobolev. Benvido Ilarraza struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Anton Babichev didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for U21 Uruguay. The audience was convinced that Ibar Codina's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Anton Babichev was relentless in the 95th minute of the game. The U21 Uruguay supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing U21 Uruguay would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
