Lartaun Ibar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Noureddine Sguir in the 22nd minute of play. Lartaun Ibar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Habib Ali Bouzayane in the 28th minute of the match. The supporters of U21 Tunisia booed when U21 Paraguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pes Villarias didn't get a good kick on the ball. 34 minutes into the match, U21 Tunisia's goal looked a bit too open when Montay Villatreses came free, but Karim Hadji reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Karim Hadji showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Montay Villatreses, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. After 43 played minutes U21 Tunisia got a freekick which was hit by Férid Ben Nacef. Moreno Martins recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 44th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Montay Villatreses to make the kick off. In the 52nd match minute, U21 Paraguay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gaudencio Alceda to maneuver through the defense. U21 Paraguay's Lartaun Ibar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mohieddine Ayari in the 54th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Moreno Martins's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Karim Hadji was relentless in the 56th minute of the game. The audience thought a goal was coming when César Oviedo got free with Karim Hadji in the 81st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a left leg Karim Hadji saved U21 Tunisia from getting behind. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
