Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Giorgos Robinho stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Apsyrtos Economides's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dan Mândru read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 53rd minute of play. Nessos Balouris took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pavel Alexandru, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 88th minute, Giorgos Robinho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Romania made a substitution. Ştefan Bocșan replaced Alexandru Urdoi. The supporters of Romania booed when Cyprus was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Giorgos Robinho didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 95th minute, Giorgos Robinho left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Cyprus fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-3. Romania's King Scorpio was substituted for Rareș Tatulici.
