Seating: 236, VIP seats: 20) Conrad Eberhart made the kick off and thus started the match. In the 3rd minute Laurgain Morientes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Everett Hertz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 7 minutes into the match, Spain's goal looked a bit too open when Conrad Eberhart came free, but Chano Gómez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Americo Leyva sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Laurgain Morientes in the 14th minute of play forced Switzerland's goalkeeper Everett Hertz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 15th minute Spain were awarded a corner. Lorenzo Torres went to the cornerflag to take it. At last the ball reached Lorenzo Torres at the corner, ending with a kick to difficult to stop for the goalkeeper of Switzerland. 0-1. In the 19th minute Conrad Eberhart shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Chano Gómez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Switzerland's Everett Hertz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Laurgain Morientes in the 22nd minute of play. 24 minutes into the game, Spain's Laurgain Morientes nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Everett Hertz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. After 28 played minutes Conrad Eberhart rounded Spain's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-2. With an all-out effort, Switzerland's Chano Gómez threw himself towards the right post 32 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Conrad Eberhart, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After 33 minutes Spain's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Ken Ottiger who took care of the corner kick. Switzerland's Ken Ottiger was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Chano Gómez in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Everett Hertz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Americo Leyva in the 35th minute of play. 35 minutes into the match, Switzerland's goal looked a bit too open when Laurgain Morientes came free, but Everett Hertz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Everett Hertz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Laurgain Morientes, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. Chano Gómez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ken Ottiger in the 43rd minute of the match. 44 minutes had been played when some careless play by Spain's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Ken Ottiger was slow to take the kick. During this time Switzerland's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Ken Ottiger got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Chano Gómez quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save.
Switzerland's Tom Piretti was substituted for Conrad Eberhart. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Laurgain Morientes was the one to do the kick off. In the 54th minute, Laurgain Morientes made a precise shot to the right of Everett Hertz. Switzerland's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. After 58 played minutes Switzerland got a freekick which was hit by Toni Jehle. Switzerland's Baptiste Amlehn was substituted for Francesco Goffredo. 61 minutes into the match, Spain's goal looked a bit too open when Tom Piretti came free, but Chano Gómez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 61 minutes of play, Switzerland's Tom Piretti made it 2-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Chano Gómez was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 64th minute, Laurgain Morientes reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Everett Hertz. The goal made the score 2-4. Spain's Fredo Silvestre was substituted for Lorenzo Torres. Everett Hertz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pau Nieto in the 69th minute of the match. Pau Nieto could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 72nd minute of the match, but Everett Hertz made a huge save. 73 minutes into the match, Switzerland's goalkeeper Everett Hertz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Pau Nieto. Bertoldo Schaffhauser hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. Bertoldo Schaffhauser kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. After 83 played minutes Spain got a freekick which was hit by Bautista Riba. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tom Piretti in the 84th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Chano Gómez saved Spain from getting behind. The corner led to Switzerland's Tom Piretti getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. The supporters of Spain booed when Switzerland was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Valentino Isenschmid didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 96th minute, Americo Leyva left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Spain fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-5. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Spain eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
