After some careless play in the Turkey defense, Isidoro Vilalobos kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Uğurcan Çakır. The Turkey fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Uğurcan Çakır should have stopped the shot. Rogério Gentil made in the 7th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Isidoro Vilalobos. Amado Neiva made an important save on a dangerous shot by Hüsmen Acaroğlu in the 9th minute. In the 13th minute the ball was on its way in behind Turkey's goalkeeper Uğurcan Çakır, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Portugal were awarded a corner in the 15th minute after Turkey's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Fábio Moura took the corner. Portugal's Fábio Moura was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Uğurcan Çakır in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Nusrettin Pekgöz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Isidoro Vilalobos took the ball and in the 22 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Uğurcan Çakır. Uğurcan Çakır dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Humberto Sales recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 27th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 29 minutes into the match, Portugal's Isidoro Vilalobos sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Uğurcan Çakır narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 31st minute Portugal were awarded a corner. Fábio Moura went to the cornerflag to take it. Ali Ömer Akbuğ hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. The Portugal fans' excitement grew in the 36th match minute when Portugal's Isidoro Vilalobos looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 41st minute Isidoro Vilalobos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Uğurcan Çakır saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Portugal's Amado Neiva got control of the ball when Hüsmen Acaroğlu tried to sneak it across the goal line. Uğurcan Çakır made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Filipe Nóbrega in the 47th minute of play. After the first half Portugal were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

In the 53rd minute of the game Diego Tinoco made a throw-in which Fábio Moura played forward. Amado Neiva took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hüsmen Acaroğlu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Portugal's Amado Neiva played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hüsmen Acaroğlu in the 60th minute of play. Turkey's attentive Volkan Semdin managed to snatch the ball when Mauro Coutinho made a throw-in in the 62nd minute of the game. Hüsmen Acaroğlu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Turkey's Zeynel Zeyni was substituted for Abdi Mehmet Hürkan. Turkey made a substitution. Başar Onur replaced Semail Ulusoy. In the 74th minute, Isidoro Vilalobos reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Uğurcan Çakır. The goal made the score 0-4. Portugal made a substitution. Celso Calado replaced Filipe Nóbrega. Isidoro Vilalobos came free with the goalkeeper in the 84th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Uğurcan Çakır could save by the left post. Amado Neiva showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Başar Onur, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. Turkey's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Nusrettin Pekgöz in the 88th minute. Portugal made a substitution. Manuel Quintas replaced Fábio Moura.

The Portugal players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
