Christian Paz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arūnas Mečionis, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. 7 minutes into the match, Lithuania's goal looked a bit too open when Mariano Vinosis came free, but Zenonas Kuprevičius reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Guatemala's Christian Paz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jotautas Pakula in the 13th minute of play. Christian Paz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jotautas Pakula in the 14th minute of the match. If Waldir Boianelli had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Waldir Boianelli sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 23 minutes into the match, Guatemala's goalkeeper Christian Paz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mantvydas Kardašius. The Guatemala fans' excitement grew in the 28th match minute when Guatemala's Ulises Pérez looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. A collision led to Guatemala getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Ulises Pérez hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ulises Pérez in the 37th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Zenonas Kuprevičius prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 39thth minute of the game Jotautas Pakula who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Guatemala's Christian Paz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 40th minute of the match Lithuania got a corner. Guatemala's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Faustas Kačinskas ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led to Lithuania's Karamoko Printz getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. Christian Paz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jotautas Pakula in the 46th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ulises Pérez in the 47th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Zenonas Kuprevičius prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The Lithuania players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Guatemala were winning 0-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Arūnas Mečionis was the one to do the kick off. After 53 played minutes Guatemala got a freekick which was hit by Nelson Ochoa. 54 minutes into the match, Lithuania's Faustas Kačinskas broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Christian Paz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arūnas Mečionis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Waldir Boianelli received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Zenonas Kuprevičius came out and tried to block the shot, but Waldir Boianelli slotted it home off the left post making it 0-2 in the 58th minute. Lithuania's Zenonas Kuprevičius proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to save Lithuania from getting a goal against them. Darijus Kibildis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Guatemala's Ulises Pérez got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Lithuania made a substitution. Alfredas Alijošius replaced Mantvydas Kardašius. Lithuania's Motiejus Drąsutis was substituted for Arūnas Mečionis. In the 76th minute Mariano Vinosis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zenonas Kuprevičius saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With his leg Zenonas Kuprevičius managed to avoid a goal in the 81stth minute, when Guatemala's Ulises Pérez fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Zenonas Kuprevičius made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Douglas Cerna in the 81st minute of play. If Jotautas Pakula had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Jotautas Pakula's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Christian Paz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 85th minute of play. After 86 minutes, Motiejus Drąsutis made it 1-2 with a short kick to the right side. Guatemala's Christian Paz tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. 89 minutes into the match, Guatemala's goal looked a bit too open when Alfredas Alijošius came free, but Christian Paz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Guatemala's Misael Aguirrez got a free kick in the 90th minute. Guatemala's Christian Paz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Motiejus Drąsutis in the 91st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jotautas Pakula in the 94th minute of play forced Guatemala's goalkeeper Christian Paz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Lithuania manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Guatemala to win.
