Ted Fiedler showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marcelo Llata, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. Ecuador's Valentim Seron played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Louie Hart in the 31st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Matty Staple in the 84th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Valentim Seron to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
