In the 4th minute Renos Seletopoulos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kaprasíus Línbergsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Iceland defense, Renos Seletopoulos kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Kaprasíus Línbergsson. The Iceland fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Kaprasíus Línbergsson should have stopped the shot. In the 11th minute, Renos Seletopoulos left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Greece fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Iceland's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. An unnecessary self made goal, 1-2 in the 15th minute. Vaggelis Giasemakis kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. In the 18th minute the ball was on its way in behind Greece's goalkeeper Fanis Arkadis, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 21 minutes into the match, Renos Seletopoulos notched a goal, 1-3, to the right of Iceland's Kaprasíus Línbergsson. Kaprasíus Línbergsson was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Renos Seletopoulos took the ball and in the 24 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Kaprasíus Línbergsson. Kaprasíus Línbergsson dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-4. 26 minutes into the match, Greece's goal looked a bit too open when Hjálmar Barðason came free, but Fanis Arkadis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Pantelis Pantelos's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Kaprasíus Línbergsson was relentless in the 27th minute of the game. Renos Seletopoulos's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Kaprasíus Línbergsson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. Kaprasíus Línbergsson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Renos Seletopoulos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Kaprasíus Línbergsson was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Disappointed in the 1-8 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Hjálmar Barðason to strike the kick off in the second half. Renos Seletopoulos could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 53rd minute of the match, but Kaprasíus Línbergsson made a huge save. 55 minutes into the match, Greece's goal looked a bit too open when Hjálmar Barðason came free, but Fanis Arkadis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Greece's Themos Missiakos was substituted for Renos Seletopoulos. 74 minutes had been played when some careless play by Iceland's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Makis Ligdas was slow to take the kick. During this time Greece's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Greece's Makis Ligdas to fire away a dangerous shot which Kaprasíus Línbergsson despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 76th minute, Themos Missiakos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Kaprasíus Línbergsson made an important save on a dangerous shot by Themos Missiakos in the 78th minute. After 78 played minutes Themos Missiakos rounded Iceland's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-9. Iceland's Kaprasíus Línbergsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pantelis Pantelos in the 88th minute of play. Themos Missiakos struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Kaprasíus Línbergsson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Greece. After 92 minutes of play, Greece's Themos Missiakos made it 1-10 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Kaprasíus Línbergsson was left in no man's land by his defense there! 95 minutes into the match, Greece's Themos Missiakos sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Kaprasíus Línbergsson narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The crowd rose to their feet as Themos Missiakos kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Kaprasíus Línbergsson. That made the score 1-11 in the 96 minute of play.
