In the 40th minute, Sweden's Jimmy Påk ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Johnny Cash. Johnny Cash yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. Otis Andersen charged in rather forcefully in the 46th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Otis Andersen the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 46th minute, Otis Andersen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 47 minutes into the match, USA's goalkeeper Johnny Cash had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Vidar Kjartansson.

Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Johnny Cash showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jan-Olof Sundström, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. USA's Johnny Cash played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Agne Fransson in the 85th minute of play. Armen Simonyan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 87th minute of the match, but Ronny Lilja made a huge save. Ronny Lilja showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Seth Pollard in the 88th minute of the match. In the 92nd minute Zlatan Svensson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Johnny Cash saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Through an outstanding action, after 98 minutes, Ronny Lilja successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Sweden were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of USA for a fine match.
