Jiang Zhen Yan started the match with the kick off. The audience was convinced that Doni Prestes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but 任竞辉 was relentless in the 8th minute of the game. If Jiang Zhen Yan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Gilmar Neiva made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jiang Zhen Yan in the 15th minute of play. After having played for 20 minutes, Caetano Costa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. U21 Brazil's supporters crossed their fingers, but Caetano Costa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 任竞辉 showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Doni Prestes in the 26th minute of the match. 任竞辉 stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Doni Prestes's shot from short distance in the 32nd minute. In the 34th minute Doni Prestes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but 任竞辉 saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 39 minutes into the match, U21 Brazil's goal looked a bit too open when Jiang Zhen Yan came free, but Gilmar Neiva reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 39th minute Jiang Zhen Yan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gilmar Neiva saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. U21 Brazil's Gilmar Neiva played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jiang Zhen Yan in the 43rd minute of play. 于兴战's late challenge caught a U21 Brazil's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. 于兴战 helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of U21 Brazil booed when U21 China was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. 于兴战 didn't get a good kick on the ball.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Doni Prestes to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute Doni Prestes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but 任竞辉 saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gilmar Neiva made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jiang Zhen Yan in the 54th minute of play. Rony Abraão kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. U21 Brazil made a substitution. Silas Schmidt replaced Rony Abraão. In the 70th minute, Rony Abraão hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gilmar Neiva came out of the goal in the 71st minute to try and stop a shot by U21 China's Jiang Zhen Yan. But to his dismay, Jiang Zhen Yan quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. U21 China's 陈俊正 was substituted for Jiang Zhen Yan. U21 China's 雷宁明 got a good chance for a goal in the 76th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. U21 China made a substitution. 彭旭鹏 replaced 邓烨乐. Leandros Heidemann sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leandros Heidemann in the 81st minute of play forced U21 China's goalkeeper 任竞辉 to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 任竞辉 made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leandros Heidemann in the 83rd minute of play. In the 84th minute of the match U21 Brazil got a corner. U21 China's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Tony Stark ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led U21 Brazil's Tony Stark to fire away a dangerous shot which 任竞辉 despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 85th minute, U21 Brazil's Leandros Heidemann dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. After 88 played minutes U21 Brazil got a freekick which was hit by Silas Schmidt. In the 93rd minute the ball was on its way in behind U21 Brazil's goalkeeper Gilmar Neiva, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Neither U21 China or U21 Brazil succeeded in finding a winner during the second half. That meant the players faced another 30 minutes of extra-time.

All the players looked a little tired when it was time for the first half of the overtime. It was U21 China's 陈俊正 that got to make the kick off. The supporters of U21 China booed when U21 Brazil was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 102 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edvaldo Tande didn't get a good kick on the ball. 任竞辉 came out of the goal in the 104th minute to try and stop a shot by U21 Brazil's Leandros Heidemann. But to his dismay, Leandros Heidemann quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. U21 Brazil's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
