Basilio Joanes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Efren Del Cid read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 10th minute of play. The referee felt a red card was in order, 13 minutes into the game, when Emerson Rosales put in a rough tackle. In the 20th play minute Basilio Joanes came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Efren Del Cid. 3-0. Basilio Joanes blasted a shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Efren Del Cid having to make a save. In the 26th minute, Clodoveo Hegoi fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. 27 minutes into the match, U21 Guatemala's goalkeeper Efren Del Cid had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Basilio Joanes. A collision led to U21 Guatemala getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Saul Benavides hit a great ball. Efren Del Cid didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Basilio Joanes went, in the 31st minute, to the upper right corner, 4-0 was the resulting score. If Allan Ventura had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 38th minute, Basilio Joanes left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The U21 Argentina fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-0. When U21 Argentina's Basilio Joanes in the 43rd minute got a chance for a shot 43rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye U21 Guatemala's goalie prevented a goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 5-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Clodoveo Hegoi to make the kick off. In the 51st minute, Basilio Joanes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 54 minutes into the match, U21 Guatemala's Allan Ventura sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Tomas Vino narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Basilio Joanes scored 6-0 in the 58th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Efren Del Cid, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. U21 Argentina made a substitution. Angelino Garaile replaced Luis Ongile. In the 64th minute the ball was on its way in behind U21 Guatemala's goalkeeper Efren Del Cid, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After some careless play in the U21 Guatemala defense, Clodoveo Hegoi kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Efren Del Cid. The U21 Guatemala fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Efren Del Cid should have stopped the shot. U21 Argentina made a substitution. Juancho Marica replaced Clodoveo Hegoi. In the 72nd minute Juancho Marica shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Efren Del Cid saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 77th minute, Jhalmar Quintanilla hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 79 minutes into the match, Justino Maldonado notched a goal, 8-0, to the right of U21 Guatemala's Efren Del Cid. Efren Del Cid was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Efren Del Cid took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Niceto Eliu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Feliberto Cayo hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. When Mauricio Umanzor fell near the penalty area in the 95th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored U21 Guatemala's protests and gave Mauricio Umanzor a yellow card for diving instead. U21 Argentina's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
