Seating: 2369, VIP seats: 206) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Papi Gol started the match with the kick off. 4 minutes had been played when some careless play by Venezuela's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Rômulo Velasco was slow to take the kick. During this time Brazil's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Marcello Quirino got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Gaztea Araña quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Venezuela's Gaztea Araña played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Papi Gol in the 7th minute of play. Papi Gol scored 0-1 in the 10th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Gaztea Araña, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 13 minutes into the match, Rômulo Velasco notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Venezuela's Gaztea Araña. Gaztea Araña was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 18 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Marcello Quirino came free, but Gaztea Araña reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Denis Olmedo was the one to do the kick off. Lucimar Barcelos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arano Cedeno, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. In the 72nd minute Marcello Quirino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gaztea Araña saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fresco Reboredo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Venezuela's Mariano Bertiz was substituted for Bernabel Canido. Venezuela made a substitution. Pedro Davalos replaced Arano Cedeno. After 80 minutes Brazil's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. Brazil's Lucimar Barcelos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Denis Olmedo in the 86th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Calvin Johnson in the 94th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Gaztea Araña to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
The Brazil players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
