Talip Ağaoğlu blasted a shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Wolf-Rüdiger Anschütz having to make a save. 16 minutes into the match, Germany's goal looked a bit too open when Talip Ağaoğlu came free, but Wolf-Rüdiger Anschütz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Wolf-Rüdiger Anschütz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Talip Ağaoğlu in the 18th minute of the match. A collision led to Germany getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Atilla Türkoğlu hit a great ball. In the 20th minute of the match Mürsel Urhan shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Wolf-Rüdiger Anschütz showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Nando Muslera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Robert Hofer in the 22nd minute of the match. 28 minutes into the match, Turkey's goal looked a bit too open when Robert Hofer came free, but Nando Muslera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 34 minutes into the match, Turkey's Talip Ağaoğlu sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Wolf-Rüdiger Anschütz narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 36 minutes into the match, Turkey's goal looked a bit too open when Jochen Kamp came free, but Nando Muslera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Germany's defense didn't have a chance, in the 44th minute, when Fatih Sultan-Mehmet scored to the left of an out of position Wolf-Rüdiger Anschütz, making the score, 2-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Germany made a substitution. Julian Büttgenbach replaced Edo Heike. Mürsel Urhan made a great header on Turkey's corner, it was just that Germany's Wolf-Rüdiger Anschütz managed to reach the ball for a save.
