With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alan Shearer in the 27th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Minda Aspe saved U21 Ecuador from getting behind. U21 Peru's Paul Aranda played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carcelén Cardeiro in the 31st minute of play. The U21 Peru fans' excitement grew in the 44th match minute when U21 Peru's Alan Shearer looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Cresencio Braojos's late challenge caught a U21 Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cresencio Braojos helped the player get up and apologised. In the 47th minute, Cresencio Braojos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. U21 Peru made a substitution. Frechoso Armenta replaced Lazaro Mestas. U21 Ecuador's Federico Achutegui was substituted for Teofilo Ayon. The supporters of U21 Ecuador booed when U21 Peru was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 48 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cresencio Braojos didn't get a good kick on the ball. A hard shot by Carcelén Cardeiro from long distance, 49 minutes into the match, got Paul Aranda's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. After the first half U21 Peru were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Milio Villabedon was the one to do the kick off. In the 55th match minute, U21 Peru was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Juan Cerecedo to maneuver through the defense. Yaniusky Pinto struck a weak shot in the 57th minute. Minda Aspe didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for U21 Peru. Minda Aspe made an important save on a dangerous shot by Milio Villabedon in the 59th minute. In the 62nd minute of the match U21 Peru got a corner. U21 Ecuador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Raymundo Quemada ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on U21 Peru's corner Raymundo Quemada fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Minda Aspe quite easily take care of the ball. Minda Aspe made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Milio Villabedon in the 64th minute of play. The corner led U21 Peru's Raymundo Quemada to fire away a dangerous shot which Minda Aspe despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 67th minute, Carcelén Cardeiro ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Paul Aranda was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Milio Villabedon in the 70th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Minda Aspe saved U21 Ecuador from getting behind. U21 Peru made a substitution. Veto Villota replaced Raymundo Quemada. Milio Villabedon recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 76th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Paul Aranda made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carcelén Cardeiro in the 79th minute of play. Paul Aranda showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Andrés De la Cuadra in the 81st minute of the match. 82 minutes into the match, Andrés De la Cuadra notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of U21 Peru's Paul Aranda. Paul Aranda was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Milio Villabedon in the 87th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Minda Aspe saved U21 Ecuador from getting behind. In the 88thth minute of the game Milio Villabedon who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but U21 Ecuador's Minda Aspe was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When the match had gone on for 88 minutes, Milio Villabedon put it in 2-3 from a short distance just to the right of Minda Aspe. After a rather tough play, U21 Ecuador's Matt Hummels got a free kick in the 92nd minute. After having played for 94 minutes, Frechoso Armenta managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. U21 Peru's supporters crossed their fingers, but Frechoso Armenta was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. U21 Peru's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
